Content is the heart of your campaigns. This guide covers creating, organizing, and managing content assets in ThriveSend B2B2G, including version control, approval workflows, and the content library.

In ThriveSend, content refers to all creative assets used in campaigns:

Content Types:

  • 📧 Email Templates: HTML email designs
  • 📄 Landing Pages: Campaign landing pages
  • 🖼️ Images: Photos, graphics, illustrations
  • 🎥 Videos: Video content and embeds
  • 📝 Copy: Written content and messaging
  • 📎 Documents: PDFs, presentations, attachments
  • 🎨 Design Assets: Brand assets, logos, style guides

  2. Click Content in the left sidebar
  3. You’ll see the content library

To create a new version of existing content:

  1. Open content in editor
  2. Make changes
  3. Click Save as New Version
  4. Add version notes describing changes
  5. Save

Version Notes Example:

Version 2 Changes:
- Updated hero image to new product photo
- Changed CTA button text from "Learn More" to "Get Started"
- Fixed typo in paragraph 3
- Updated copyright year to 2026

Compare different versions side-by-side:

  1. Open content
  2. Click Version History
  3. Select two versions to compare
  4. Click Compare

To restore a previous version:

  1. Open content version history
  2. Select version to restore
  3. Click Revert to This Version
  4. Confirm reversion

IMPORTANT: Reverting creates a new version (doesn’t delete current version).


Content requires approval before use in campaigns:

  1. Open content from notification or Pending Approvals
  2. Review content thoroughly
  3. Check compliance requirements (government content)
  4. Make decision:
    • Approve: Content meets standards
    • Request Changes: Needs modifications
    • Reject: Does not meet requirements

Archive old or unused content:

  1. Select content
  2. Click Archive
  3. Provide archive reason
  4. Confirm archival

  • Accessible via Archive folder
  • Can be restored if needed
  • Counts toward storage quota
  • Retained per POPIA requirements

IMPORTANT: Deletion is permanent and subject to POPIA retention policies.

Business Content:

  • Can be deleted by authorized users
  • Requires confirmation
  • Audit logged

Government Content:

  • Cannot be deleted (POPIA/audit requirements)
  • Must be archived instead
  • Permanent retention for compliance

Symptom: File upload fails or times out

Solution:

  1. Check file size (within limits)
  2. Verify file format is supported
  3. Check internet connection stability
  4. Disable browser extensions temporarily
  5. Try different browser
  6. For large files: Use bulk upload feature

Symptom: “Version conflict” error when saving

Solution:

  1. Another user edited the content simultaneously
  2. Refresh page to see latest version
  3. Copy your changes
  4. Create new version with your updates
  5. Merge changes manually if needed

Symptom: Content pending approval for long time

Solution:

  1. Check approval workflow timeline
  2. Send reminder to approver
  3. Verify approver has necessary permissions
  4. Check if approver is on leave
  5. Escalate to admin if overdue
  6. For government: Allow full approval window

Symptom: Content missing from library

Solution:

  1. Check if content is archived
  2. Verify folder location
  3. Use search with broader criteria
  4. Check if content was deleted (audit log)
  5. Verify you have permission to view content
  6. For government content: Verify security clearance
