Congratulations on joining iSu Technologies! This guide will help you navigate your first 30 days and set you up for success.

4:00 PM - Development Environment Setup (Developers)

  • Clone repositories
  • Install dependencies
  • Run local development servers
  • Test database setup

End of Day 1 Checklist:

  • All accounts created and accessible
  • Laptop fully set up
  • HR paperwork completed
  • Read code of conduct
  • Met your team
  • Development environment working (if developer)

  • Understand products and technology stack
  • Complete training modules
  • Make first small contribution
  • Establish daily routines

Morning:

Afternoon:

  • Shadow team member (pair programming or sales call)
  • Attend daily standup
  • Set up 1:1 with manager (recurring weekly)

Developers:

  • Pick “good first issue” from backlog
  • Create feature branch
  • Submit first pull request (even if small fix)
  • Go through code review process

Sales/Marketing:

  • Practice product demo with colleague
  • Roleplay objection handling
  • Review CRM system

Operations:

  • Review internal processes
  • Complete assigned admin tasks
  • Shadow key workflows

  • Attend all team meetings (standup, planning, etc.)
  • Introduce yourself in team chat
  • Schedule coffee chats with 3-5 team members
  • Ask questions freely (there are no dumb questions!)

End of Week Check-in with Manager:

  • Review first week experience
  • Address any blockers or concerns
  • Set goals for Week 2
  • Feedback on onboarding process

Self-Assessment:

  • Do I understand our products?
  • Do I know how to get help?
  • Am I comfortable with my tools?
  • Do I feel welcomed by the team?

  • Ship meaningful work to production
  • Build relationships across teams
  • Deepen product/domain knowledge
  • Establish productivity rhythm

Week 2:

  • Take ownership of first real feature/project
  • Present work in team demo/showcase
  • Complete all required training:
    • POPIA compliance training
    • Security awareness training
    • Product knowledge certification
  • Attend client meeting or demo (observer)

Week 3:

  • Lead daily standup (1 day)
  • Complete feature and deploy to production
  • Provide feedback on onboarding experience
  • Start contributing to documentation (improve what you learned)

Discussion Topics:

  1. Accomplishments: What have you shipped/achieved?
  2. Challenges: What’s been difficult?
  3. Learning: What have you learned?
  4. Goals: What do you want to achieve in next 60 days?
  5. Feedback: How can we improve onboarding?

Expected Outcomes by Day 30:

  • Shipped at least one feature to production (developers)
  • Closed at least one deal or generated qualified leads (sales)
  • Completed at least one project deliverable (operations)
  • Comfortable with daily workflows
  • Integrated with team
  • Clear 60-day goals set

🎓 Required Training (Complete by Day 30)

  • POPIA Compliance (2 hours) - SA data protection law
  • Security Awareness (1 hour) - Phishing, passwords, 2FA
  • Code of Conduct (30 min) - Professional standards
  • Product Knowledge (3 hours) - ThriveSend + AssessFlow

Developers:

  • Code Review Process (1 hour)
  • Testing Best Practices (2 hours)
  • Security Best Practices (2 hours) - OWASP, secure coding
  • Git Workflow (1 hour) - Branching, PRs, merging

Sales/Marketing:

  • Demo Certification (4 hours) - Practice until fluent
  • ROI Calculator Training (1 hour) - Use confidently
  • CRM System (2 hours) - Salesforce/HubSpot mastery
  • Competitive Analysis (2 hours) - Know the landscape

Ask questions - Lots of them. Write them down, ask in standup or 1:1 ✅ Take notes - Document processes as you learn them ✅ Be proactive - Volunteer for tasks, offer help ✅ Ship early - Small contributions are still contributions ✅ Build relationships - Get to know your teammates ✅ Give feedback - Help us improve onboarding

Onboarding doesn’t stop at 30 days. Your first 90 days are critical for long-term success.

60-Day Goals:

  • Lead a feature or project end-to-end
  • Mentor a newer team member
  • Identify and implement one process improvement

90-Day Goals:

  • Operate independently with minimal supervision
  • Contribute to strategic discussions
  • Be seen as subject matter expert in one area
